Active Fan Heatsinks

Fans combined with a heatsink provide excellent localized cooling solution called active fan heatsinks. Enabling a fan to provide directional airflow over a heatsink provides a more efficient heat transfer from the fins to the ambient air. Usually a fan is mounted either on top of, or next to the heat sink to generate airflow over the component to provide an excellent cooling solution. Engineering this type of thermal component into your design allows a small footprint with the ability to provide excellent spot cooling inside tight areas.
