Best for: Wine and scuba diving in Western Australia
For your first couple of nights in Perth we highly recommend staying at a small boutique hotel called The Richardson. Perfectly situated with some great restaurants nearby and within easy access of Perth.
After you have had a day or two of city life it will be time to self drive down to the peaceful winelands of Margaret River. This journey normally takes 3.5 hours but we always recommend allowing a little longer as you might want to stop off and enjoy the views.
We suggest spending at least two to three nights at Cape Lodge, where you can experience staying in the heart of the winelands whilst enjoying the 10 hectors of forest, parkland, gardens and lakes at the hotel. One very good reason for hiring your own car is that it gives you the freedom to explore the battered and dramatic limestone coastline.
To head north to Sal Salis you will drive back to Perth's airport and catch a plane to Leamouth, where you will be met and transferred to Sal Salis Ningaloo Reef. This is by far one of Australia's secret heritage sites and epitomises 'wild bush luxury'. Sleep in a luxury 'African safari style' tent hidden in the sand dunes along the coast. Enjoy sea kayaking and snorkelling trips on the Reef, wildlife viewing and guided gorge walks in the Cape Range National Park, as well as a boat trip on nearby Yardie Creek. During April and June you will be able to scuba dive with the famous and very special whale sharks. We recommend spending at least 3 nights at Sal Salis as there is so much to do and it is such a beautiful place to enjoy the outdoors.
Your week in Western Australia ends with a transfer to Exmouth's Learmonth Airport for your departure flight to connect with your international flight back to Singapore.
